Jerry Brandon
L. Jerome Brandon, Ph.D. FACSM is a retired professor and Chair of the Department of the Kinesiology and Health at Georgia State University. His primary areas of research are healthy lifestyle choices, cardiometabolic predictors of cardiovascular disease in African and European Americans, management of obesity in African Americans and functional ability and aging as influenced by muscle functions. Dr. Brandon is a Past- President of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) -Southeast Chapter and a member of the ACSM Leadership Diversity Training Program committee. He is on the Board of Governors for the Global Health and Body Composition Institute and a past member of the Kinesiology committee of the Board of Regents of Georgia. He has been supported by grants from The Veteran Affairs, Robert Woods Johnson Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association, General Mills and National Institute of Health. He published more than one hundred papers and made more than 150 professional presentations and he is an active member of the Greenforest Community Baptist Church.
