Joshua Farr

Dr. Farr is an Associate Professor in the Division of Rheumatology, University of Arizona Department of Medicine. In addition, he serves as the Ethel McChesney Bilby Chair for Osteoporosis Research in the Arizona Arthritis Center. Over the past ten years at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota), Dr. Farrā€™s work has been seminal in the identification of senescent cells in the bone microenvironment, and their role in mediating age-related bone loss in old mice. He also served as PI on a phase 2 trial to test the effects of intermittent senolytic therapy on bone metabolism in postmenopausal women, which has key implications for the future development of senolytic drugs. Dr. Farrā€™s laboratory at the University of Arizona will focus on the roles of senescent cells in mediating aging and chronic diseases.
